Hello!  My name is Mrs. Hayashi and I love the colour yellow…but I will talk about that a little later!  To go way back, I too attended JKCS from SK to grade 8!  I graduated from York University where I received an honours degree of Bachelor of Arts with a major in English and a minor in Humanities.  I also graduated Teacher’s College from Redeemer University College.

I began teaching in 2005 at Timothy Christian School in Etobicoke where I taught a combined grade 1 and 2 for five years.  After that I started teaching at JKCS where I have taught a combined grade 1 and 2, grade 2, and grade 1.

I grew up in Brampton and am the youngest of 5 children.  I am so thankful to my parents for providing me with Christian education in both elementary and high school. I know and have experienced the importance of Christian education, which is why I am now sending my four children to JKCS!  God has blessed me with a wonderful family including my husband Jay, my two boys Carter and Max and my twin girls Kaylee and Lily.

A few things I love to do include spending time with family and friends, prayer and worship, hiking, fishing, camping, photography, writing, looking for things that are yellow, and of course…teaching (okay that was more than a few things).

I love teaching and am especially excited to teach in a school where God is the central focus of all things and in all subject areas!  My goal as a teacher is to instruct students how to become stewards of God’s creation and to learn and grow in the light of Jesus…which brings me back to the colour yellow.  I always tell my students yellow is my favourite colour (I even have a yellow voice) because it reminds me of the sun.  The sun reminds of light and light reminds me of Jesus because He is the light of the world!

My favourite thing about teaching grade 1 at JKCS is that I can feel the presence of God.  I have moments where I get “Jesus goosies” (or goosebumps) during morning devotions and worship and while teaching and I just know that God is guiding everything we do.  He is always showing up in amazing ways.  I feel blessed to witness my student’s grow spiritually, socially, and academically throughout each year. God is so good!  He is our strength and song and with Him we can do all things!

My life verse is Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”  It is God who gives us strength through all things.  He is our Saviour and through Him, all things are possible!  Praise God from whom all blessings flow!
