Part-Time Bookkeeper

John Knox Christian School is looking to hire a part-time Bookkeeper to assist the Financial Administrator.

The Bookkeeper will work for approximately 10 Hours a week. The hours and days of work are flexible and to be arranged in discussion with the Financial Administrator.

Job Description:

• Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger entries in QuickBooks.

• Enter receiptable payments in Donor Manager and update it with any changes or new information.

• Regularly reconcile Donor Manager with QuickBooks.

• Track and follow up all returned payments.

• Invoice parents for Before and After School Care and follow-up on outstanding balances.

• Track, reconcile and follow up class trip, hot lunch and all school event payments.

• Maintain record of all deposits and deposit cheques and cash at the bank periodically.

• Mail out tuition invoices and tax receipts.

• Assist the Financial Administrator with periodic reconciliations, internal reports, year-end tax receipting and audit preparation.

• Carry out any other functions that may be assigned from time to time by the Financial Administrator.

Qualifications:

• A sound knowledge of accounting principles.

• Good knowledge and experience with QuickBooks 

• Knowledge of Donor Manager will be an advantage. Training will be provided,

• 3 – 5 years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting role

• Work experience at a private school or not-for-profit organization is an asset.

• An Accounting or Finance degree or Bookkeeping Certification

• Working towards CPA designation will be a plus point but not required.
